Wound Care
Conditions We Treat
What We Do
Headland Urgent Care is equipped to handle a variety of non-life-threatening wounds that require prompt attention but don’t necessarily need an emergency room visit.
Minor Cuts and Lacerations:
Small to moderate cuts that may need cleaning, stitches, or adhesive closures (like Steri-Strips).
Abrasions:
Scrapes or road rash where the skin’s surface is scraped off.
Conditions We Treat
Puncture Wounds:
Small wounds from objects like nails, needles, or splinters. Headland Urgent Care can clean them, remove shallow foreign objects, and assess for tetanus risk.
Minor Burns:
First-degree burns (superficial, like a mild sunburn) and some second-degree burns (blisters but not extensive). We can provide pain relief, dressings, and burn ointments.
Animal or Human Bites:
These often require thorough cleaning and antibiotics to prevent infection. We can manage minor bites but may refer severe ones (e.g., deep tissue damage) to a hospital.
Conditions We Treat
Infected Wounds:
If a wound is red, swollen, or oozing pus, we can assess it, prescribe antibiotics, and sometimes drain minor abscesses.
Foreign Objects in Wounds:
Headland Urgent Care can remove small, superficial objects (e.g., glass, splinters) but not deeply embedded ones requiring surgery.
Staple or Suture Removal:
For wounds previously treated elsewhere, we can remove sutures or staples when healed.
